It has been a while since we did our last announcement, and we would like to bring everyone up to date again and provide a status for the new version of the app. The last couple of weeks we have been building and finalizing the new website design for Flits, the new support system, and we finally managed to release the Flits Beta for testing. It took Google and Apple nearly 6 weeks to approve the beta version of the app, which is the longest it ever took. But finally, everything is back on schedule and a selected group of users is currently testing the new app. We already gathered some very useful feedback that we are implementing as we go.
After the new app is released our users will be able to buy gift cards again and experience the Flits app on a whole new level. We are a bit disappointed we were not able to honor the initial planning, but it seems like everything is working out nicely. Hopefully, 2022 will be a better year for all of us.
That said we are also still working on the issues we have been experiencing with the server providers we currently have. As we have shared previously we are busy optimizing the servers, so users will have fewer issues with nodes going offline or having to be restarted. This process is still ongoing as we have to phase out older servers one by one, to make sure we can extensively test our new server structure. Unfortunately, this takes more time than we hoped, especially as development is also ongoing. We have made a lot of improvements already and most users are not experiencing any issues, but for some of the users who are still having issues with nodes going offline and being redeployed on new servers and going offline again, we ask them to open a ticket and provide sufficient information on the issue.
We would also like to inform everyone that server providers worldwide are still struggling with scalability issues due to the high demand during the pandemic. We have a great new structure and 90% of the time we get new servers delivered within 10 min. But according to our SLA, it can take up to 48h before new servers are provided. As a result, masternode deployment is at times not possible, and we understand this is frustrating but it is hard for us to prevent this. What we already do is order more servers at once to prevent servers from being full the moment they are set up. Unfortunately, sometimes the mass deployment of nodes and the fact servers can take longer before they are delivered, some users may experience some deployment issues. With the new app, we have a communication system in place to notify people of this kind of matter, so users are always up-to-date on the situation.
Our planning for the upcoming 2-3 months looks as follows. Please keep in mind some things may change as we go, but this will give a good indication of the upcoming changes and development.
- Releasing the new app version to the public;
- Implementing the new support system;
- Phasing out the old server system completely;
- Releasing the new Website;
- Releasing the new Flits Web app;
We would like to thank everyone who is supporting the project, and we are confident great things will come for Flits! Have a great day.
